About Me
Hello my name is Joni Eliahou, and I am a Certified Pospartum Doula & studying to be a Certified Lactation Counselor. A Postpartum Doula supports the family as a whole. She is there to guide and support the new mother and father/partner in their journey into parenthood. She provides baby care and postpartum care to the mom and often the dad/partner also. She helps with the transition of other siblings and pets, to accept the new baby. She provides assistance with breastfeeding and is knowledgeable about baby formula too. She also provides household assistance, allowing the new parents to bond with their new baby. She may run errands, grocery shop and help in the kitchen preparing nutritional meals. When I come into your home I will access what needs to be done as to give you time to rest and bond with your new baby (ies)
I have 28 years of experience in the field of child care and development. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. My career began as a Medical Assistant, working with many types of doctors. Pediatrics became my passion. I worked collecting blood samples from newborns at the hospital. I administered vaccinations, performed eye, hearing and allergy tests while working in a pediatric office.
I take classes to keep updated on early child care and development. I have certification as a pre-school teacher. I have worked as a day care manager, organizing the daily schedule of babies age 2 months through 2 years. I am also in the process of becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor. I have knowledge and experience in breastfeeding difficulties and can guide you to have a successful breastfeeding relationship with your baby.
I have been happily married for 33 years to a wonderful supportive man. I have one beautiful daughter, and a very energetic 4 year old grandson. Family is very important to me.
I enjoy supporting families and their newborn babies. I fall in love with all my babies, and their families and they become apart of my life forever. I have found my calling in life, supporting families and giving them as much knowledge and wisdom as I possibly can. My goal is to help each family begin their journey through parenthood with confidence, knowledge, patience and a lot of love.
